Rocky Mount, N.C.-(Jan. 9, 2006)- The board of directors of First Carolina State Bank has appointed local bank executive Timothy N. Taylor president and chief executive officer of the bank. Taylor assumes the leadership position from founding bank president and CEO David A. Parker who is retiring. Taylor will join the bank's board of directors and Parker will continue to serve on the board.

"Tim is an excellent addition to First Carolina State Bank," said Dr. Randall Stewart, the bank's chairman. "His industry, as well as management experience, combined with his commitment to this community will ensure a smooth leadership transition. Our goal is to continue to serve the financial needs of the businesses and people of Rocky Mount, Tarboro and the surrounding communities."

Parker added that he looked forward to working with Taylor and was pleased with the success the bank had experienced over the past five years. "Since our founding in 2000, we have become an integral member of the community and have not lost sight of our goal of being a hometown bank," said Parker. "We have a strong and experienced team in place and are now able to offer all banking services from two full service offices. We have grown financially and I am extremely pleased to see that this focus will be further strengthened with the appointment of Tim to the leadership position."

Taylor has more than 22 years financial services experience and has held various positions in commercial lending as well as retail and mortgage banking. A Rocky Mount native, Taylor has spent all of his banking career with financial institutions in Rocky Mount. Taylor earned bachelor's degrees in both Business Administration and Economics from North Carolina Wesleyan College. He is a graduate of the mid-management and advanced management programs at the North Carolina School of Banking as well as the graduate school of banking at LSU.

"First Carolina State Bank is a solid, well-respected bank that in a very short time has become deeply rooted in my hometown," said Taylor. "It is my goal to continue on the course that has been set by the bank's founders and board members and take our bank to the next level in its growth. Every decision we make will focus on how we can continue being a strong contributor to the economic health of this community."

Taylor is a lifetime member of the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the Rocky Mount Development Authority.
